Carbon Poker Unveils Preview of 6.0 Software Version
05/18/2012Coming in June, Carbon Poker and the Merge Gaming Network will release the latest version of their software client. With the new software release, Merge Gaming will add filters, a new search field and game list expanders. Over the coming weeks, Carbon Poker will share additional features with the new software release.
Let's take a look at what has been announced so far...
Filters
With the new client, there will be two dedicated ways to find the games you seek. The "Quick Selector" will allow you to quickly visualize the games and options that are available to you ask you make them.
The Advanced Filter option has also been upgraded and as a result will be much more in-depth and provide fine control over every aspect of the game. Select your game type and use the slider to quick refine the buy-ins and limits of the games you wish to play. Select boxes will be available for the types of games you would want to play, betting type, speed, number of players, game format and status of the tables.
New Search Field
In 6.0, a new search will be available which will allow you to search for a variety of variables. Search for the name of a table, nicknames, player tags, game types and much more. An auto-complete feature will allow for quick searches for what you are looking for.
Game List Expanders
Game Expanders will also be added to the lobbies of Merge Gaming sites with the release of 6.0. Click on the arrow next to the table name and instantly be given information about the players seated and waiting along with their real money balance. The Expander will also bring up a small preview of the table, allowing players to quick sit down if they choose.
Tournament information through the Expander feature will be even more robust. Clicking on the arrow next to the tournament name will reveal tournament details such as start time, registration time and the number of players currently registered.
The changes announced in the 6.0 software release are impressive thus far, with even more changes to be unveiled by Carbon Poker and Merge Gaming in the coming days and weeks. Stay tuned to Stallion poker for more information about the Merge Gaming Network's latest software release.
Americas Cardroom Lowers Fees on Bad Beat Jackpot Tables
05/17/2012Americas Cardroom has announced that they will be reducing the Bad Beat Jackpot contribution for mid-stakes players by half. Starting today, players at Bad Beat Jackpot tables with limits of $0.10/$0.25 to $1/$2 will now pay a maximum of $0.25 per raked hand instead of $0.50 under previous rules.
Americas Cardroom, which is on the Winning Poker Network with True Poker, stated they have listened to player feedback when making the changes. Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris said the following of the change:
"Our mid-stakes players felt that the bad beat jackpot had too big of an effect on their win rates. We've decided to lower their contribution so that they can still partake in the excitement of the bad beat jackpot without it having a major effect on their overall results."
The Bad Beat Jackpot tables on the Winning Poker Network are by far the most popular games on the site, so this change should positively affect many players. The Bad Beat Jackpot, which currently sits at a shade under $350,000, is hit whenever a player loses with Quad Eights at designated Bad Beat Jackpot tables. The fees paid at the tables for every raked hand are what feed the large jackpot prizes.

Cake Poker Network Rakeback Increases to 36% Effective June 1st
05/16/2012Good news for players on the Cake Poker Network! Effective June 1st, your rakeback will be increasing to 36%! The move comes ahead of a planned takeover of the Cake Poker Network on June 1st, at which time the network will also be renamed the Revolution Network.
